Son of Pt. Surya Prasad Shukla and Smt. Rampyari Devi, Pt. Udhav Prasad Shukla hailed from a distinguished lineage. His ancestors, originally from Badarka, settled in Latifnagar, Lucknow district.

He was blessed with three elder brothers: Pt. Parashuram Shukla, Jamuna Prasad Shukla, and Jalipa Prasad Shukla, whose collective influence fostered an environment of learning and tradition.
